Back from hiatus

After a rather low-key summer, Oran will be returning to the stage on Saturday, the 20th of September. We're going to be playing Steps again in Sakae along with Iznit Obvious, Homie and JC. (No, that's not Jesus Christ.) The doors open from 18:00, with the first act going on about 19:00. We're set to play third, so expect us on stage from 21:00.

A couple samples of the upcoming Rift EP have been uploaded to the myspace page. The EP itself is still forthcoming, however, due to us needing to clean up the mix and production a bit more. We're looking at November for a release. Any updates will be posted here.

On the production line

Oran EP II has been recorded, mixed and mastered. Unlike the previous studio recordings, we're planning on making this a full-fledged release. Batch pressing, fancy artwork, liner notes . . . the whole nine yards. Well, maybe not lyrics. Whatever the final result, you can expect to see the update here. Hopefully we'll have something arranged in the coming months. We're all happy with the results, so we're eager to share it with others as well.

Thanks to everyone that came out last Saturday for the Mongol Rally support event at Plastic Factory. Judging by the heaving masses and the ambient temperature, the turnout was pretty good. Many additional thanks to Joel and Elmer for taking care of the organization work. Now if only Oran had the time and money to hop in a tiny car across Europe to Ulaanbaatar!

Real life commitments and other distractions will have us on a bit of a hiatus for the next month or two. Look to see us playing again sometime towards August or so, hopefully, with perhaps an official CD release party soon after.

Plastic Factory this Saturday

We are playing this Saturday night, May 31st at Plastic Factory in Imaike. It's a benefit gig in support of the 2008 Mongol Rally - London to Ulan Bator in tiny cars to help out charities. More info here. There are various bands and DJs playing and should be a big night. Tix are 2500yen - all for a good cause.

Tadamusic, Nagoya Springfest, Tetris!

Thanks to the fine people at Tadamusic you can now download many of our songs for free. Tadamusic is an excellent site dedicated to promoting indie bands in Japan. You can find a host of other quality acts there, including the quite interesting Kyushu-based rock group - nanbanjin.

Speaking of interesting bands, Tetris Nightmare! have some amazing new songs at their Myspace site. They are disgracefully good so do yourself a favour!

Finally, we had a great time playing at Nagoya Springfest. Thanks to the organizer, Trevor and everyone who made it out.

And we start recording EP no.2 this weekend.....
